After being given the new project, I was excited to develop different ways to visually communicate information. Using the words Mapping and Measuring as starting points, I chose to spend the day visiting the Museum of Science and Industry and experiment with ways in which I could draw and record my journey, the way I moved around the museum and even the route my eyes took around the exhibition.
I began by photographing my journey from my flat to the MOSI, focusing on both different road surfaces and street names.
Once at the Museum, I decided to experiment with ways in which I could portray the journey I took around the exhibition, by creating a series of continuous line drawings. My medium of chose was fine liners, both in black and white.
This photo is an example of one the drawings I developed from my original 'journey' drawings. I continued with the idea of continuous line drawings, however chose to simplify them down and I think this works really well and creates some interesting shapes.
