Locating - Personal Brief - Week Two

This week has been a real breakthrough for me. I've spent a long time getting used to working with Photoshop and I finally feel like I'm starting to properly understand it. I've really enjoyed experimenting with layering photographs and applying different filters to produce certain effects.
One of my favourites is the one displayed below, purely for the central area of the image. To begin with, I think the colours compliment each other really well however more importantly, from adding the filter it has created a section where the image has been replaced with simple blocks of colour in the shape of what was originally there. This is where I want my project to develop from.

I've also wanted to spend time working within my sketchbook as well as Photoshop, and I have particularly enjoyed creating drawings by collaging. This image was my response to one of my photographs, however I took snippets out of the image and studied how they could develop into a pattern. I'm enjoying breaking down the images and looking at the individual components that make up the complete photo.

By this point, I also wanted to combine some of my ideas together therefore I began to draw on top of my collages to learn what outcome I would get. I think this process has worked really well; I adore the simplicity of the pieces yet also the possibility they have to develop even further. It's also allowed me to think carefully about the composition - do I want to keep the layout the same as the photograph or alter it slightly?
