Josefina Concha

The Chilean born textile artist replaces a brush for a sewing machine, exploring the qualities of the thread and building a piece of work that is 'articulated through the investment of a material on a piece of cloth, and the time dedicated to sew it.'

Not only do I love her colour palette, but I think the way in which her work almost has a life of its own and yet looks so delicate, is very clever. Even though I notice similarities between her work and some of my knit samples, I definitely think that when I move onto weaving, I can take inspiration from Josefina Concha and experiment with ways in which I can make my weaves more 3-dimensional.
