Experimenting with mediums

This week we continued working on new samples, however I wanted to experiment with what would happen when I incorporated different medium, such as acrylic paint, into my work. The photograph above is an example of one of my samples, and even though I like the unusual and uneven surface that has been created, it's not a concept I want to pursue. It's been an interesting way of working, however I don't like the colour of the acrylic, as I've tried to stick to a purely clean black and white palette, and I think it leaves quite a heavy effect on a fairly delicate piece of work.

I also came across a book:'Creative Drawing - Point and Line'. It has some great techniques and different ways to create interesting line drawings. I've taken great inspiration from some of the work in this book when developing my drawings.

I was also introduced to the Cornely machine. Initially I found it quite difficult to manoeuvre, however after a time of getting used to it, I started to really enjoy it and used it as another method of drawing. This photograph is created using a medium moss stitch and I experimented with making similar shapes displayed in my sketchbook.
