This week I properly started my new unit of embroidery. I spent a lot of the time learning different hand embroidery techniques and experimenting with running, ladder and chain stitch to create a selection of samples.
I also decided to continue with the 'journey' drawings which I produced whilst visiting the MOSI, developing them in a variety of ways, as well as including other aspects of my route into the pieces, such as road names.
When I was at MOSI, there was also a fascinating exhibition on - 'Brains: The Mind as Matter'. Not only did I find it hugely interesting and inspiring, but I noticed a great link between the drawings which I'd been creating and the shapes that can be found within the brain. I'm really excited to further develop this idea, incorporating some of my findings within my work, however sticking purely to line drawings so that I can respond to them with my embroidery.
